What Clarko captures on your computer
While Clarko is running, the desktop app captures the following locally on your PC:
- Screenshots of your monitors every ~2 seconds (kept in memory only, last 16 seconds)
- Audio playing through your speakers (kept in memory only, last 5 minutes)
- Your microphone, only when you press the hotkey
None of this is written to disk or transmitted anywhere unless you trigger a question.
What gets sent off your computer, and when
Only when you press the hotkey and ask a question, the following is sent:
- A transcription of your voice (made locally via Whisper)
- A transcription of recent system audio (also local)
- A few recent screenshots, downscaled
This is sent to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Anthropic processes the data per their privacy policy; they do not train on it by default.
What we store
- Your email address and Stripe customer/subscription ID
- An access token used to authenticate the desktop app
- Daily aggregate counts of how many requests/tokens your account has used (no contents)
We do not store your screenshots, audio, transcripts, or Claude's responses on our servers.
Pause / delete
You can pause all capture from the tray icon at any time. To delete your account and data, email hello@clarko.app.
